Munivongsa Buddhist Temple warmly welcomes visitors, devotees, and community members. Whether you wish to attend a ceremony, request a blessing, ask about classes, or support the temple, please feel free to contact us or visit in person.
Visit The Temple
Daily Schedule
- 6:00 AM Morning chanting, blessing, meditation, and merit sharinig.
- 6:30 AM Morning chore while breakfast is preparing.
- 7:00 AM Breakfast (Everyone has their own preferred meal, but we eat together when food is offered)
- 7:30 – 10:00 AM Work and study time (everyone has their own responsibilities, but we work together when needed).
- 11:00 AM Lunch (Sunday is our meal-offering shift. Please feel free to bring a meal or monastic supplies to offer to the monks).
- 12:00 PM Day resting.
- 1:00 - 4:00 PM Work , Khmer & Dharma class (everyone has their own responsibilities, but we work together when needed).
- 5:00 PM Evening chore.
- 6:00 PM Tea and drinks.
- 7:00 PM Evening chanting, blessing, meditaion, and merit sharing.
Day Visit
Munivongsa Monastery is a spiritual home for both monastics and laypeople. Visitors are always welcome to walk the grounds, meditate, listen to teachings, share tea, and support the community. The spiritual friendship between the lay community and the sangha is deeply valued.
Daily Schedule Highlights

Mealtime: 11:00 AM (10:00 AM Sunday gathering)
A meaningful time to visit and participate in the meal offering. -
Tea Time: 6:00 PM
An informal gathering to visit, ask questions, and speak with the abbot or senior monks. -
Evening Chanting & Meditation: 7:00 PM
On lunar observance days, take longer than usual.
We respectfully ask all visitors to dress modestly and maintain a peaceful atmosphere while on temple grounds.
Staying Overnight
Munivongsa welcomes visitors who wish to stay overnight for spiritual practice, learning, and quiet reflection. Overnight stays are intended to support meditation, mindfulness, and participation in the daily life of the monastery.
Guests are expected to respect monastic discipline, maintain silence when appropriate, dress modestly, and follow the monastery schedule. Accommodations are simple and offered based on availability.
If you wish to stay overnight, please contact the monastery in advance to make arrangements and to receive guidelines. By staying at Munivongsa, guests are invited to live simply, practice mindfully, and cultivate spiritual friendship with the sangha and the community.
Transportation
Munivongsa is located at 5638 S Minnie Ave, Wichita, KS 67217, in a quiet area of south Wichita.
By Car
Driving is the most convenient way to visit the monastery. The temple has large and spacious grounds with ample parking available on-site. Please park respectfully and follow any posted guidance during events.
By Ride-Share (Uber / Lyft)
Uber and Lyft are available throughout Wichita and can bring you directly to the monastery using the address above.
By Public Transportation
Wichita Transit buses serve the south Wichita area. A short walk from the nearest bus stop may be required. Please check current routes and schedules in advance.
Assistance
If you need transportation support for special events or overnight stays, please contact the monastery ahead of time.
